Most games that offer this feature do it for real cash, so if it ever happens, you can almost bet it is in the online store... after all, they try to raise funds with Mission Bonus Packs and all that kind of stuff. So why not this way... and GW2 must also be financed somehow.

In Tabula Rasa theres a cloning system where you can create an exact copy of your character, and just change sexuality and appearance. Very crafty.
(I don't think it gets to keep equipment or anything like that, just experience and skills)

I doubt it will ever happen since Gaile stated that it is a technical limitation.

are you stupid or something? This kind of thing happens every day somewhere in the world. It has been well documented that you can physically change from a female into a male irl.

I don't think it will ever happen, but I put a lot of thought into my characters so I don't mind. The only problem I have is that my ranger's hair actually is green ingame. But hey, that's what the ninja mask is for
And yes... too many trashy television channels= definitely aware that female to male surgery is possible. Shock documentaries ftw. But no... would be too weird for an rpg.

What the hell? Yes, you can. It's not perfect, and it's rather expensive, but it's more than possible.

Female characters shouldn't exist?

No, no, no. If a player needs to change the sex of his/her character, then quite obviously they lack the commitment or foresight to play an RPG.

So any true character I create isn't allowed to have some kind of gender identity disorder? It's bizarre, certainly, but that's part of the fun of truly roleplaying.

the auction house is a technical limitation. i can't see how hairstyles will be a problem. just imagine a wig in the style of new headgear like the eotn crown. plus, they did manage to switch the genders of characters before as well..

No, not really. You can have your genitals destroyed and shaped into something vaguely resembling those of the other gender, take hormones, and get plastic surgery but that's really just cosmetic. Genetically and physiologically one is still of the original gender, and we don't have a way to change that (not yet, anyway).
Now with magic, of course, none of that's a problem. None of your armor would fit, though.
I'd vote hair change definitely, face change maybe, gender change probably not. Ultimately though, it's not like I'm going to complain about having new options. If you're going to adjust gender you should probably be able to change height and skin tone too, though.

What about modding? Is it possible? I know the changes would only appear on your end but I think that could answer what most people want.

Yea.. riiiight... that's just an excuse to get out of ever having to consider doing it. They showed in april that the appearance of already made characters can be changed. So Gaile saying they can't do it due to some supposed "limitations" is a pretty blatant lie.

In light of the clipping issues with some items, a hair change might be in order.
It might not be implementable because of the way GW saves your character though, who knows.
Hey, if something as primitive as MapleStory can do it, noone else has an excuse. :P

Of course genetics are still out of our reach, but cosmetic is mostly what many transsexuals are looking for, anyway.
And why are so many people opposed to character sex changes? It's not that bizarre, and if you're going to offer character re-customization at all, why on earth would you leave something like that out?

sure i like the idea of options.
to clear the air i believe that the procedure from going to female to male is called an adadictomy (that would be pronounced add a dick to me) irony is funny.

Instead of making threads asking for stupid stuff and confusing Anet about what the players want, ask about what's actually useful: the much needed skill balance and hard mode for GWEN.

That's pretty sick. I don't want that crap in my Guild Wars. If you feel like bending your gender, just play a character the opposite of what you are in life and role play that way. This is what everyone does right now anyway. I suspect the reason this is even an issue is because people are uncomfortable with their initial choice but don't want to lose their time invested.
That falls somewhere along the lines of player responsibility and LOL. People who pick a pathetic name are in the same boat, you can't change that either. Next time think things over if it matters so much to you.

Well from what Gaile has said all the developers are now wrokign on GW2, and there will be no major updates to GW now.
This is one reason to say that it will never happen
A second is that Gaile has previously stated that this is far too complex a thign to intigate into the current game.

It's so complex that...they already did it for April Fools. Right....

The next time anyone chooses to quote or paraphrase Gaile Gray, can they also provide a link to the source?

Asking Anet to fix player fickleness is like me asking a court to be acquitted for shooting someone in the face point blank. It's remotely possible, but don't count on it. It's not a reasonable thing to expect. It's already been said why.
Don't these types of suggestion/request posts belong in a different forum anyway?
